Why is it important to learn about Jews from different backgrounds and cultures? How can their stories teach today's students about Jewish identity, peoplehood, and pride and why is this particularly important in today's global landscape? How can we enrich our Hanukkah programming this year? In collaboration with JIMENA: Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa, The Lookstein Center is offering a free, hour-long session focusing on the importance of embracing the full Jewish story as a means of building Jewish identity, combating false Jewish stereotypes, and bringing different perspectives and traditions into our classrooms. Together, we will look at some common Sephardi and Mizrahi Hanukkah practices and learn how to bring them into our classrooms for meaningful, engaging, and fun holiday learning.

This session is geared towards supplementary/part-time program educators of grades 5 and up.
